Safety Guide

Rationale

Context:  During the Fall semester, 2005, at ASU, I completed a science methods course where we studied and reviewed the safety procedures and methods necessary for a successful science class to operate.  This safety guide was the main source of review and was taken from the Public Schools of North Carolina State Board of Education Department of Public Instructions.

Impact:  I would use this safety guide to review the procedures and processes of science lab/activity safety.  This handout might also be used to help inform parents and/or for older students to read, sign and return to school.  These safety procedures will help to assure that I manage a safe and affective science classroom.

Alignment:

  • NCDPI Standard 17, Indicator 2:  I have shown competency in researching and knowing the lab and activity safety procedures necessary for a science class to run efficiently.
  • NCDPI Standard 17, Indicator 3:  This standard has been met through the process of studying and complying with the science Safety Laws, Codes and Standards found in the handout outline these procedures.
