Welcome to my showcase portfolio home page. Here is where you may view the work I created along my journey to earning a Master's Degree in Instructional Design and Technology. I have also included a brief resume of my work history and links to the Global Studies Program I took part in when teaching.

Biographical Essay

I am a mother of three school-aged children, wife to a software engineer, and an educator by profession. Warm and sunny Florida has been my home for most of my life. In 1989, I graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Architecture. I spent the following seven years working in retail, first as a manager at a major department store and then as the owner operator of a gift shop selling collectibles, clocks, music boxes and included a very busy clock repair department.  The field of primary and secondary education became an interest to me after my children were born so I closed the shop and focused on earning a Florida Professional Teacher Certificate.  I took masters level education classes at University of North Florida, and to gain experience, I substituted in all grade levels at an area elementary school. Soon after completing my coursework I was hired to teach 8th grade US History at an inner city middle school in downtown Jacksonville, Florida. The following year I moved on to teach 6th grade History and English at San Jose Episcopal Day School where I have happily worked the last 8 years.

This past summer, our family made the momentous decision to move away from Jacksonville, Florida. An exciting job offer for my husband brought us 3000 miles to Seattle, Washington.  Since the move, I have focused on getting the children settled in school and completing a masters program in Instructional Design and Technology. I chose Instructional Design and Technology because of my interest in integrating technology into elementary education. Enhancing traditional lessons with innovative technology centered activities is exciting to me. I also see the future of online education growing to be an integral part of the American education system. I am very excited in being a part of this field.
