How is your pursuit important to you or your personal growth? 
This pursuit helps my personal growth because it allows me to focus on why I am doing this career in the first place. I have always been a lover of ASL. Since I was little I was fascinated with the way people could move their hands to communicate with other people. I remember the first time I saw ASL my eyes lit up in excitement and I had always wanted to become fluent in it. The thing about it is that ASL has always been a part of my life because I have an elderly Deaf and Blind friend whom I have grown up with. So before this program I always signed and I was already involved in Deaf culture. In the beginning it was hard because I felt like I was relearning the way I had been signing. It felt like the signs I was doing were wrong and that I was oblivious to the way I was actually suppose to be signing. Do these songs helps me reconnect with my roots and allows me to take away those mental blocks I have during assignments or those looming thoughts that I cant be creative because I have to do everything perfect in order to get the best grade possible. This allows me to be happy and invest time into myself for my goals and purpose too. I think this is a reminder to myself that I should be doing this throughout my career because I might fall into the pattern of feeling too overwhelmed with the feeling of having to do something for a "grade" or to get a perfect score.
