Context: Using Taskstream, I created a sequencing activity for children.  I made this web folio during my Integrating Technology class in my Fall 2005 semester.  I took the pictures with Casey Thompson, Caroline Seufert and Amanda Burcham, but completed the rest individually. This project is intended for a third grade class, but I have included suggestions and modifications that would make it appropriate for a younger and older class.  I took pictures of a sequence of events using a digital camera, and after croping and re-sizing them, I inserted them into my portfolio.  I've included instructions for both the students and the teacher, allowing for individual reflection and group collaboration.

Impact: When I teach, I will be able to use this project as a fun, multi-dimensional activity that addresses multiple NCSOS objectives and appeals to many learning styles.  I will be able to assess each student's ability to sequence, use a word processing document, and write creatively and proofread.  It will also be a fun alternative to traditional assignments for my students.

Alignment: I have met the following standards:

  • NETS-T standard II-A because I have included modifications, allowing this project to be used by a variety of grade levels.  It also allows students to work at their own pace and addresses a variety of learning styles.
  • NETS-T standard IV-A because I have suggested that older students email their completed stories to the teacher, using technology to assess student learning.
  • NETS-T standard IV-C because I have included an online rubric for student evaluation.
  • NETS-T standard V-B because I have reflected on my personal experience with the activity during my internship.
  • NETS-T standard VI-D because I have recommended that teachers encourage students to take stretch breaks, promoting the healthy use of technology.
  • NETS-T standard VI-E because I have encouraged teachers to have students switch off in pairs, ensuring equal technology time for all.
