Honorable Prime Minister Lansana Koyaté: Welcome to the United States of America. May God bless you, the people of Guinea, and the mission for which you continue to travel abroad and at home so as to improve the grave political and economic situations in Guinea. Today, most of us have one dream, go back to Guinea and serve our country.
  3. Learn About Guinea Learn About Guinea
Guinea, officially Republic of Guinea (French: République de Guinée), is a nation in West Africa, formerly known as French Guinea. Guinea's territory has a curved shape, with its base at the Atlantic ocean, inland to the east, and turning south. The base borders Guinea-Bissau and Senegal to the north, and Mali to the north and north-east; the inland part borders Côte d'Ivoire to the south-east, Liberia to the south, and Sierra Leone to the west of the southern tip. It encompasses the water source of the Niger, Senegal, and Gambia rivers. The name Guinea is used for the region of most of Africa's west coast south of the Sahara desert and north of the Gulf of Guinea. Guinea is sometimes called Guinea-Conakry per its capital, to differentiate it from the neighboring Guinea-Bissau (whose capital is Bissau).

The organization says corruption is widespread throughout the world. It is at its worst in Africa and least prevalent in northern Europe. This year's rankings finds Haiti as the most corrupt country, followed by Iraq, Guinea and Burma. Last year Bangladesh and Chad tied for the dubious honor. Oil-rich but conflict-ridden Iraq dropped 23 places in the latest compilation.
  8. Why the Security Officers Have to Change? Why the Security Officers Have to Change?
<<previous | index | next>> III. Torture and Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment of Suspects in Police Custody In June 2006, Human Rights Watch interviewed 35 individuals in Conakry, Guinea’s capital, many of them children, who provided detailed and consistent accounts of mistreatment and torture by police officers while in police custody. Many of these individuals told Human Rights Watch that during police interrogation they were bound in painful positions, hung from a tree or from a hook in the ceiling, and then severely beaten, burned, and abused by police until they agreed to confess to the crime of which they were accused. The experiences of current prisoners and detainees in Conakry, and information from local human rights groups, suggest that the use of torture by the police is routine.

A Plead to African Slavery

I have always had an amazing respect for Ghana when she was the first country to loan money to my country, after Guinea's independence.   This act was and it still is one of the best African ways of life, which should be encouraged among African nations.  The African leader who initiated that act needs to be recognized.  I have always had respect for African leaders who believe that Africa will never have financial security without educating her children, as well as cleaning financial swindlers with the broom of integrity and self-abnegation.   Therefore, Africa, are you going to use the technical know-how of your children in order to excavate the black water that has given wealth to the Middle Eastern countries.

Africa, I am calling you to repair one special wrongdoing.  Africa needs forgiveness and pardon from God. I strongly believe that Africa is not innocent as to slavery.  It is true that the West, using marketing strategies, stole not only African natural resources during colonialism but the African brain and manpower.  However, there is never a buyer if there is no seller.  As sellers of our own brothers and sisters, like Joseph’s brothers in the Bible, we need to repent and ask forgiveness to the grandchildren of those that were forced to the manacles of slavery. African youth, please lead the way. May God pardon Africa! Amen.

A question to debate:

Can Africa develop itself without prioritizing science, technology and research in education and good governance?
