Hello everyone. My name is Joseph Haba, and I live in Atlanta, Georgia. I was born in Tèyéouhon, a small village nestled in the jungle of the forest region (about 12 kilometers from N'Zerekore) in Guinea (West Africa). My alma mater is the University of Conakry, Guinea. Nevertheless, I came to the United States in July 2000 through New York City where I spent a year before coming to Atlanta, Georgia – my permanent residence since then. Prior to coming to the United States, I lived in Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire and Geneva. Besides these countries, I visited France, Germany and Senegal. Currently, I am married to my wonderful wife, Anna, and we have two beautiful daughters with whom I spent most of my daily activities. In addition to my family’s activities, I enjoy reading classical books, playing the guitar and writing stories. In fact, I am a member of a local writers’ association in Snellville, the city where I live. Moreover, I'm honored to benefit the freedom my family and I are enjoying in this amazing country.
Since January 2002, I have been teaching ESOL in Berkmar High School. ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. As a full time teacher, teaching students with very limited spoken and written English skills, I have scores of responsibilities such as: (1) planning, modifying and teaching lessons to suit diverse students – many of them unschooled in their native languages; (2) helping students to acculturate in their new environment; (3) working with my students’ content area teachers with some class management data; (4) assessing and preparing students daily and periodically for their placement or for their high school graduation tests and other requirements; (5) incorporating technology to enhance students’ success; (6) and using my French and Spanish skills, I appreciate a wonderful relation with parents and my school administration. I am mostly at home around four o’clock unless I have some urgent businesses at work. On the other hand, my past jobs include teaching ESL and French at the International School of Conakry – Guinea, founding and managing my own private school for unschooled adults.
About eight years ago, I started an international certification program in Africa through graduate programs with some US universities. However, after some challenging events and my coming to the United States hindered me to fulfill my objective. Due to my full time job, and spending time with my family after school, I finally found it convenient to do my gradual studies online. Therefore, I hunted to hit upon the best graduate program online, and my top preference is the University of Phoenix Online. Now that I have embarked into the boat of knowledge with the University of Phoenix Online, I anticipate traveling through the waters of matchless leadership skills with the renowned and skilled captains (my professors) in this journey, along with my team members. Everybody’s help is vital for my professional renaissance.
