Rationale for Student Teaching Technology Lesson Plans
Context:
During my student teaching experience at Park View Elementary School, I created several lesson plans incorporating technology in the classroom. These lessons include computers, overhead projectors, smart boards, internet, television, and compact discs. I have attached a few lesson plans which included some of the technology above, there is a math word problem lesson, solar system lesson, and a frog versus toad lesson plan. During my student teaching experience I attended technology workshops for the smart board and used the front page to update the classroom newsletter each week.
Impact:
By incorporating technology into the classroom, students will become familiar with the technology and be able to use the technology in the future. Adding technology to lessons creates another dimension of learning, reaching learners who might excel with hands on skills. The lesson also expose children to technology who would otherwise not have the opportunity.
Alignment:
I have met NETS-T competency III A by allowing students to participate in moving characteristics on the smart board to their appropriate pace on the Venn diagram.
I have met NETS-T competency III B by using the different types of technology I was able to meet the needs of my students. The smart board, internet, and overhead project allowed me to create lesson plans which were hands on and visual for my active learners.
I have met NETS-T competency III C by using the smart board in getting students to use higher order thinking skills to determine what characteristics are shared by both frogs and toads and what are specific to one or the other.
I have met NETS-T competency III D by incorporating the internet, smart board, and overhead projector into my lesson plans.
