Rationale for Family Living Lesson Plan
Context:
I created this family living lesson plan during my health education in the elementary school course for Mrs. Julia Adams. I was required to create a Kindergarten lesson plan based on the North Carolina Standard Course of study using a six point lesson plan format. I taught the lesson plan to my college peers and was videotaped. Mrs. Adams required me to watch the video and look at areas which I could improve in the future.
Impact:
I will be able to use the lesson plan with a kindergarten class to teach them about the roles of family members. Students will learn what is expected from their parents or guardians and what kind of behaviors are expected from themselves. Students will also be exposed to different families such as family with grandparent, step-parents, adopted parents, and guardians. The lesson will also teach students parents ask them to do things in order to keep them safe from harm.
Alignment:
The Family Living Lesson Plan aligns with the following program standards:
Standard 13. I met this standard by creating a lesson plan which teaches children how healthy families interact with each other. By the end of the lesson students will know their role as a child and their parents role. Students will also learn parents ask them to do certain things to keep them safe.
