Artifact 24 - Program alignment with national standards
The Lee County Career & Technical Center Computer Information Program strives to be a center for excellence in all aspects of teaching and student learning. The department is a state-of-the-art technical facility with the capabilities to provide students with knowledge of modern technologies. Numerous businesses, community college personnnel and students have received many benefits from these learning facilities and from taking the Computer Information Systems Program. It is my desire as the Computer Information Program Instructor to keep refining the business department for each student and to teach the technological generation to come.
Throughout the school year, students work on various projects, such as PowerPoint presentations, advanced Word Projects, WebPages, and Excel and Database simulations. Students also complete a school yearbook for the Early Childhood Program at the Career Center. Students also create their own personal portfolio and an electronic memory book of their school years.
Throughout the school year students utilize computer peripherals, such as digital cameras, scanners, CD burners, and computer projectors. Students practice technology skills in preparation for Industry Certification. Students have an opportunity to become Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certified and the Advanced Computer Information Systems students have the opportunity to receive dual certification in MOS.
The Computer Information Systems program is aligned with the National Standards in Business Education and Information Technology. The Computer Information Systems Program course outline, framework, standards, and course competencies align with all National Standards provided by the National Business Education.
