Philosophy of Teaching

World Map (Sm.) My philosophy on teaching is every child matters and no child should be left behind in the classroom.  It is my goal to get to know all my students and teach them in ways that will be specific to their needs, so I can reach everyone. I want my students to be able to go beyond the basic learning and extend their knowledge into areas such as problem solving, discussion, reflection, and other areas of study. I strongly believe students need praise because it is our job to also strengthen their confidence in their ability to do the work, so they can move on to higher levels of thinking. Each child that walks into my room is the future.

I will graduate from Appalachian State University in December of 2006 with a B.S. in Elementary Education with a concentration in Social Studies.

I would like to obtain a job in North Carolina.

I would also like to teach second, third, fourth grade, or fifth in the first few years and then experience other grades to grow in my experiences.
