Assessments of Chapters

Context: These artifacts were created during the spring of 2005 in Block I.  These artifacts are both a summarization and assessment of chapters from our classroom textbook and was completed under the direction of Mr. Stamey Carter.

Impact: The two summaries below allowed me to better understand the struggles as well as the accomplishments of beginning readers.  Through reading the chapters, I gained knowledge of proper language instruction as well as the language acquisition process that students learn through.

Alignment:
Standard 1-1:
Through reading each chapter and completing the summaries, I gained the knowledge of the developmental stages of language acquisition, thus meeting this standard.
Standard 1-5:This artifact demonstrates my understanding as well as shows my knowledge that reading is taught as a process that builds upon each students prior knowledge.

Standard 1-8: This artifact demonstrates that I know and understand the written and oral processes because it details each.  Furthermore, the artifact demonstrates the importance of teaching proper grammar and usage in context.
