Progress (Lg.)

The study of research in TEC 540 provided me an opportunity to build a proposal for a future study. The variations of quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-methods scrutinized during the course built a core understanding of how to research and interpret the validity of other research. The progression to conducting a research project is assembled in a manner that places the pieces in logical order to understand the process.

The aspect of experiences at home has been studied numerous times as it applies to a student’s educational aptitude. The background of a student contains evidence relating to current abilities and future potential in not only the core subjects of math, reading, science, and social studies, but technology utilization for creating product and practicing skills required for success academically. The proposed quantitative research study examines home computer use and the correlation to student achievement on mandated tests in reading, language arts, math, technology, and electronic portfolio development.
