This assignment meets the requirements stated because it addresses the needs of culturally diverse students in the classroom. Additionally, the narrative addresses strategies educators can use to enhance student achievement, recognize individual differences, and modify lessons for all learners.

AZ- Arizona's Professional Teacher Standards
Standard 1: The teacher designs and plans instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards and the district's assessment plan.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher?s planning:
Assessed performance 4: Addresses any physical, mental, social, cultural, and community differences among learners
Standard 2: The teacher creates and maintains a learning climate that supports the development of students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standards.The performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 4: Respects the individual differences among learners
Standard 3: The teacher implements and manages instruction that develops students' abilities to meet Arizona's academic standardsThe performance assessment shall measure the extent to which the teacher:
Assessed performance 8: Incorporates strategies which address the diverse needs of learners, and demonstrates multicultural sensitivity
WV- West Virginia Content Standards and Objectives
Subject: Social Studies
Grade or Course: First Grade
Standard: Standard 5: History (SS.S.5) Students will:
Detail: use the processes and resources of historical inquiry to gather, examine, compare, analyze and interpret historical data (Skills and Application);
Detail: examine, analyze and synthesize historical knowledge of major events, individuals, cultures and the humanities in West Virginia, the United States and the world (Culture and Humanities);
Detail: use historical knowledge to analyze local, state, national and global interdependence (Interpretation and Evaluation); and
Detail: examine political institutions and theories that have developed and changed over time (Political Institutions).
