Professional Development

Context:

I am currently student teaching at R. Brown McAllister Elementary in Concord, NC.  Under the advisement of Mrs. Ashlyn Edwards.  Working with Mrs. Edwards I have the opportunity to attend staff meetings, School Improvement Team, and Mentor/Mentee meetings.  This is an agenda from a School Improvement Team meeting.

Impact:

I attend a SIT meeting every fourth Tuesday of the month.  Attending these meetings help me grow as a professional.  At these meetings I learn more about the policies, budget, improving the quality of education of the students, and the programs and technology implemented in the school.  This agenda proves I attend SIT team meetings at R. Brown McAllister.

Alignment:

This agenda helps to meet the following NC Standards for Elementary Teachers.

Standard 16: Elementary teachers develop as leaders in their schools and communities by staying informed about educational policy issues and supporting professional development. Elementary teachers participate in co-curricular activities, provide leadership in student and curriculum involvement, and connect these activities to the development of citizenship ideals of their students.

Indicator 2 - Teachers participate in meetings that establish policy.

This agenda from the School Improvement Team meeting proves that I am participating in meetings which the establishment of policies, implementation of technology, discussion of budget, and what is being done to improve the quality of learning at the school.
