Class Averages

On the Pre-Assessment the class average was 0.82.

On the Post-Assessment the class average was 3.16.

The highest score one could attain on the Pre and Post Assessments is a score of 6. Each correct answer is worth one point.  The class average increased. The questions on the pre-assessment and post assessment are practically the same. Some of the questions the numbers are changed, but the skills needed to calculate the answers are the same. In the class there are twenty-eight students, but three students information were left out of the data. One student did not take the pre-assessment and the post-assessment. He was absent both days.  Two students were absent when the post-assessment was distributed, and their results were left out from the data.  The two students who were absent for the post-assessment took the pre-assessment, but their information was disregarded because they did not take the post-assessment.

Comparing Proficiency Area Quizzes

Proficiency_Quizzes.jpg

Since the Geometry course is following proficiency-based grading standards, the class was given two proficiency quizzes during my Practicum experience.  The first one (Area Quiz #1) was given my fourth day of teaching (Tuesday, November 8, 2011).  The second quiz (Area Quiz #2) was given the tenth day (Thursday, November 17th) I taught at my Practicum site.  For students to be "proficient" in the material the student would need to receive a score of 2 or above.
