Our study of Geoffrey Chaucer's Canterbury Tales will take us back to Medieval England. Chaucer's unfinished book introduces readers to many characters: funny, odd, cruel, and captivating. We'll read some of the tales from the characters, practice speaking Middle English, examine characterization as a literary device, teach to the class a la Chaucer, and write a compare/contrast essay. Feel free to learn more about the city of Canterbury here. Though the Canterbury that exists today is much more touristy and pretty than it was 700+ years ago.
