Journal 1: Classroom Management

GoReact: This week we practice and show our supervisor we can use the GoReact system!

  • Upload a video of minimum 5 minutes - could be of you teaching, doing an instant activity, giving feedback, any short clip.
  • Upload a lesson plan that you taught or you are working on (does not need to be completed)
  • Comment on your video
  • Add a few tags to your video

Watermark Weekly Journal:

Using the Weekly Journal Template, that is linked below, copy the Thinking, Daily, and Weekly Writing Prompts as given here in the template to complete your weekly journal.

When your journal is completed you should upload and submit to your supervisor in the Watermark Student Teaching Program Submission Work system on that end of week Saturday as required.

  • Thinking Prompt: What constitutes effective classroom management? Please note that classroom management is much more than behavior management. Locate and share theory around classroom management.

  • Required Weekly Reading Article: Effective Classroom Management in Physical Education: Strategies for Beginning Teachers (see PDF below)

  • Daily Prompt: Each day, write down what you have done and learned from your experience. This week in particular highlight your experiences and observations in classroom management.

  • Weekly Writing Prompt: Knowing that effective classroom management includes the following components: building student-teacher relationships; organization of students, space, time and materials; inclusion of protocols and routines; soliciting and maintaining student engagement; creating a positive learning environment, please provide some strengths and challenges you encountered/observed during your week of teaching.
