When your journal is completed you should upload and submit to your supervisor in the Watermark Student Teaching Program Submission Work system on that end of week Saturday as required.

  • Thinking Prompt: What is assessment? What type of assessments have you been exposed to in physical education? What assessments are used by your host teacher? What are some of the challenges you have experienced with assessment in physical education? Read the article to get familiar with assessment in physical education.

  • Required Weekly Reading Article: Assessment for Learning in Physical Education: The What, Why, and How (see PDF below)

  • Daily Prompt:  Each day, write down what you have done and learned from your experience. This week in particular discuss how you have assessed your students in the three domains. Explain at least 2 examples of different assessment strategies you have employed each day. By the end of the week, you should have multiple assessments across three domains.
  • Reflection on Feedback: Each time you add a new reflection, your supervisor wants to see you use their feedback and reflect more deeply. Look back on lasts week's reflection and see how this week you can enhance your reflection.

  • Weekly Writing Prompt: According to the article: “Instead of keeping students “busy, happy, and good” (Placek, 1983), teachers can use formative assessment and AfL tools to ensure that students are learning the skills and knowledge they need to achieve competence in the standards” (pg. 34). Can you explain how you have used formative assessments and assessments for learning (AfL) this week to enhance students’ understanding of content. What assessments will you explore and/or continue to use during the remainder of your student teaching experience and explain why.

  • Best Lesson Plan of the week: Upload your best lesson plan (with instructional materials) of the week for evaluation
  • Upload assessments in 3 domains aligned with your lesson plan: Psychomotor, Cognitive and affective. Be sure to include assessment criteria.
