Prior Year Review

Notable actions in which the division of Education and Psychology have closed the assessment loop include the following:

Action: Curriculum connections are now embedded throughout the lesson plan template rather than housed in a separate section. The rubric for field experiences and dispositions was modified and implemented. One on one meeting schedules were implemented.

Action: Our assessments we are using are measuring the knowledge and skills of the students and this assessment.  A new lesson plan template was developed in spring 2015 and implemented with teacher candidates in the fall of 2015. These assessments and lesson plan format are currently undergoing validity and reliability checks. EDUC 350 formative checkpoints are built into the process. SPED 387 will to use the writing center to aid students in their writing.  More explicit attention to assignment rubric and descriptions are being implemented on a regular basis.

Action: Along with a newly appointment Field Placement Director and Data Management Coordinator, new protocols, databases for mentor teachers, written and oral communication for contacting instructors, reflections throughout the courses, and verification logs have been added to a variety of field experiences across the division. Specific Field experience expectations are written for both cooperating teacher and teacher candidates.
