GoalMapping
The Government Department has a number of courses that service both the Government Department and the Urban Affairs Program, yet we do not have the faculty to teach them. These courses include: Urban Government, State and Local Government, Public Administration, and Power in the City. If the College wants to recruit students based on our Urban Affairs program, we need to have the necessary courses. To better service our students and the College's mission we need this hire.

Second, our number of majors has nearly doubled over the past four years. In December 2013 we had only 34 majors and minors. As of January 2017 we have 71 majors and minors. Given the current political climate, we think that more students will be interested in majoring, minoring and taking classes in Government. To do this, we really need a 6-member department (after losing 2 to retirement in 2017-2018).
