characteristics.
1.C Students will categorize known and unknown artworks by style.
Goal 2: Students will exhibit an understanding of the role of art in social and historical contexts.
2.A Students will examine, analyze, and interpret works of art from antiquity to the present in their cultural, social, historical
and art historical contexts.
2.B Students will evaluate the socio-political roles of art, the influence of artistic traditions and practices, and the role of
artists and patrons in cultures.
Goal 3: Students will exhibit analytical and critical abilities.
3.A Students will analyze and apply the argument(s) and evidence presented in art historical literature.
3.B Students will interpret art by addressing its formal elements and iconography, and the relation of these aspects to the
socio-political context of production.
3.C Students will compare at least two artworks to develop an argument.
Goal 4: Students will conduct art historical research and write effective academic discourse demonstrating information literacy.
4.A Students will locate, summarize, and evaluate research materials.
4.B Students will use primary as well as secondary sources.
4.C Students will produce an art historical research paper in full scholarly format.
4.D Students will employ appropriate technologies in conducting research.
4.E Students will apply one or more art historical methodologies.
