Student Learning Outcomes

Goal 1. Students will communicate effectively orally.

1.A Majors will effectively organize an oral presentation.

1.B Majors will deliver an oral message using appropriate vocal and nonverbal techniques.

1.C Majors will provide credible and relevant support of an oral message.

Goal 2. Students will communicate effectively in writing.

2.A Majors will effectively organize a written message.

2.B Majors will follow the format standards for the assigned citation style. 

2.C Majors will employ relevant and appropriate support of a written message. 

Goal 3. Students will think logically and critically.

3.A Majors will formulate and analyze arguments in a debate.

3.B Majors will create models of reasoning. 

3.C Majors will be able to identify logical fallacies. 

Goal 4. Students will possess an in-depth knowledge of the field of communication.

4.A Majors will identify communication concepts and explain theories in a variety of communication areas.

Goal 5. Students will understand how to communicate wtih diverse audiences. 

5.A Majors will explain cultural differences in communicative practices.

5.B Majors will describe how culture influences a person's communication.
