Expanding Different Ideas

-Having heard Professor Noonan in class, continue to discuss being devils advocate to our suggestions and opinions about the text, got me interested to play that role with Freire's theories. I want to analyze and truly dissect the raw meaning to every point Freire shed's a light on in his essay. From there I want to find the flaw or small loophole to his viewing on the education system. I want to also read Richard Rodriguez's "The Achievement of Desire" and try to compare and use his story of being alienated from home and it affecting his role as a student in school. I want to use not only my personal experiences with education as examples for reading with or against the grain in Freire's essay but also use Rodriguez's experience as a student.

-Having discussed binary oppositions, ying and yang as well as Freire's theory of Problem-posing education I want to go deeper into his perspective on the differences problem-posing has from the "banking" concept of education.  By discussing how its differences make this form of education shine above our current system of eduaction I can question how its methods can create transformation within a students mind. I would also throw back the flaws that Freire highlights to be critical in our current education system, towards problem-posing education.

-When Freire discusses how the "banking" concept has its negative effects because it doesn't acknowledge the contradiction between the teacher-student relationship, he is able to see the long term results on that form of education because it is the current form of the education concept that is being used throughout education systems. Now, my project would be creating an experiment on the true effects of a student who underwent the education experience in a problem-posing education rather than a banking concept education. With this I would like to do research on possible roles a student can take, decision changes that can occur and different paths these two forms of education can lead a student.
