There are two basic pieces to reading, Decoding and Comprehension. Orton Gillingham teaches students to decode words, and to encode them, which is a fancy way of saying spelling. Students will be able to apply these skills to vocabulary they are learning in all subject areas, enabling them to expand their reading, writing and spoken vocabulary.
