During Internships at Louisiana Tech:
:: alternative certification candidates complete a clinical experience in which they gain an awareness of the various roles and responsibilities of teachers;
:: develop an understanding of how theory and practice are related;
:: teach at the school level and receive guidance and feedback from university supervisors;
:: and utilize their acquired knowledge and skills of teaching through implementation in the field. Implementation in the field, Internship, is a clinical experience in which the alternative certification candidate teaches full-time under the mentorship of a university supervisor.
Internships for Candidates Enrolled in the Non-Masters/Certification Only Program
EDUC 430B: Internship in Teaching - A clinical experience completed within the candidate's 6-12 classroom. The candidate must register for this two (2) hour course each term for one academic year for a total of six (6) hours. NOTE: Check the plan of Study for your program to ascertain which internship expertience is right for you.
EDUC 430C: Internship in Teaching - A clinical experience completed within the candidate's 6-12 classroom. The candidate must register for this three (3) hour course each term for one academic year for a total of nine (9) hours. NOTE: Check the plan of Study for your program to ascertain which internship expertience is right for you.
Internships for Candidates Enrolled in the Masters in Arts in Teaching (MAT) Program
EDUC 530B: Internship in Teaching - A clinical experience completed within the candidate's 6-12 classroom. The candidate must register for this two (2) hour course each term for one academic year for a total of nine (6) hours. NOTE: Check the plan of Study for your program to ascertain which internship expertience is right for you.
EDUC 530C: Internship in Teaching - A clinical experience completed within the candidate's 6-12 classroom. REMINDER - the MAT E-Portfolio is NOT the same as the Teacher Work Sample portfolio associated with the Internship experience.
