14. Asia Inspiration Project

Take Note - This is a SOLO assignment. You will work alone to create your own Inspiration Diagram.

DUE DATE: Monday, May 16th

Pick ONE of the following four topics to build your diagram about:

  1. Pick one country in Asia and report on that countries government, resources and economics.
  2. Report on a country in Southwest Asia going through a revolution or ciivl war.
  3. Report on an Asian countries economics.
  4. Pick one Asian Religion or Philosophy to build your diagram about.

For your diagram - you will create a center theme - this should be your jump off point. Then from there you will link to FIVE other mini-themes or bubbles. For each five other mini-themes you will include an image - AND - a paragraph writing about that theme.  

See the instuctions for each separate topic. Follow the rubric:

Topic 1 - Country Report

  • Economy - GDP per capita, tourism, socialist or capitalist? 
  • Government - Democracy or dictatorship? Who is the current leader?
  • People - Traditions, language, religion
  • History - Wars, conflicts etc.
  • Physical Geography - Describe the basic land features.

Topic 2 - Revolution

  • Reason - Why are the people revolting?
  • Leader - Who is the leader they are revolting against?
  • History - What is the history in this country that led to the curent revolution?
  • Economics - What are the current economic conditions like for the people? Is there a large gap between wealthy and poor people?
  • Update - What is the current statuts of the revolution? Death toll etc. Is there an outside government helping the cause?

Toipc 3 - Economics

  • Renewable resources - How are they using these for production and trade?
  • Nonreweable resources - How are they using these for production and trade?
  • GDP per capita, unemployment - What is the standard of living?  
  • Socialist or capitalist? Who controls the production of goods? The people or the goverment? Explain.
  • Major trading partners - What other nations do they trade with? What goods are they exporting to other countries around the world? 

Topic 4 - Asian Religion/Philosophy

  • History - What is the history of the religion or philosophy?
  • Founder - Who started the religion or philsophy?
  • Basic Principles - What are the basic themes and principles of this religion or philosophy?
  • Followers - How widespread is this religion or philosophy? How many people in how many countries are followers?
  • Practices - Are there any unusual practices such as diet restrictions, ties with government or social beliefs?

See the samples I have in class. I have a sample country report for the USA and a sample revolution report focusing on the Mexican Revolution.

Grading Rubric:

Inspiration Skills: (40%)

  • 5 Bubbles w/Images (20%)
  • Arrows/Links/Layout - Did you create a diagram with a center theme? (20%)

Writing/Research Skills: (60%)

  • Each theme/paragraph is worth 12%

 

 

** - There are some typos on the Mexican Revolution sample. Be the FIRST student to show me a typo and win $1 Olson dollar.
