Edmodo is a social learning platform for teachers, students and parents. Edmodo enables collaboration and an easy way to share content. I have created a mock Edmodo classroom. In my classroom I have 10 students. These students are Stephanie Castelli, Melina Davis, Lindsy Geery, Kayla Gessner, Erica Lee, Tori McGuinn, Christopher Nazario, Lauren Soskill, Brittany Stallwood, and Margaret Triber.  Among my class I have also created 3 subgroups-ELA group, math group and art group.

  • In content: I have created an assignment where the students have to tell what they are thankful for this Thanksgiving and why.  I have also created a quiz on math problems. Lastly, I have created a poll where students are asked to choose which month they were born in. The students have completed these tasks and I have assigned them grades. To extend children's learning from classroom to home, I have also created a flyer/brochure about my top app, Interactive Time Telling Lite, for parents. Parents can view this app in the Edmodo classroom or from the links below (in PDF and Word doc formats).
  • In technical skills: I have a good mastery of the basics of Edmodo. I have also explored and figured out some advanced skills of Edmodo. For instance, I have awarded every student with badges. I made posts telling the students that if they take the quiz, poll and assignment I will award them with a participant badge. I also created links in the library tab. These links are YouTube videos of a science experiment and two YouTube videos of read alouds. I have also created events in the library tab. These events include school closings for Thanksgiving break and Veteran’s Day. Another event is a field trip to the public library.

Edmodo can be used very effectively in classrooms. Teachers can easily share news and announcements with students. Teachers can create quizzes and have the students take them online. This is a great tool because the computer generates grades automatically. Teachers can also provide feedback to their students. Edmodo is a great website for parents as well because they can access this website to check events.

To access my Edmodo please use the codes from the sublink Codes on the left. With the codes, you can go to http://www.edmodo.com, click "I'm a Student". You will also need to create a student account to access my Edmodo class.
