Application to Student Teach

Your application to student teach must be approved by your UTP faculty advisor at least one full semester before semester of student teaching no later than the following deadlines (earlier even better) to be guaranteed a placement:

  • February 20th for Fall Placement
  • September 20th for Spring Placement

Submit your application in the TaskStream DRF Program “Checkpoints from Admission to Licensure” and include: 

  1. Individualized Student Teaching Plan (ISTP) --use TaskStream form in "Checkpoints"
  2. Resume
  3. Essay Titled: “Student Teaching Application Essay”
  4. Student Teaching Goals Statement
  • The essay should be 1-2 pages with your name and date under the title.   Your essay should answer the following questions:

a.  Why do you want to be an URBAN (subject area/grade level) teacher?

b.  What are your goals for student learning?   (What do you want them to know and/or be able to do?)

c.  What are some of your experiences and strengths that will help you be a successful urban teacher?

Your essay and resume must be typed and proof-read without typos or grammatical errors because they are sent to the host institutions who make decisions about whether or not to accept your placement request made by the Director of Field Experiences.
