2022 METRO STATE SCHOOL OF URBAN EDUCATION UNIT REPORT TO PELSB

Home > Subp. 6. UNIT AND PROGRAM OVERSIGHT > Standard 27. Compliance with Regulations > (2) Administer all Licensure Programs

(2) Administer all Licensure Programs

Standard 27. The unit must:
(2) administer all licensure programs as approved;

The UED Dean is responsible for ensuring that all licensure programs are administered as approved (and for notifying the board of any changes to approved programs through the EPPAS reporting process). In the event that there is a need to make program changes, as agreed on by faculty, the dean works with the UED Program Coordinator and the UED Assessment Coordinator to prepare and submit the proposed change via EPPAS. An example of adhering to this standard was demonstrated in summer 2022 with revisions to our Special Education-ABS licensure program with the UED Dean working with PELSB staff to submit a few course changes in EPPAS to the approved program.

The UED Dean, Department Chair and licensure program coordinators also collaborate to ensure appropriate administration of the UED’s approved licensure programs, which includes space allocations, class schedule, staffing, planning, monitoring candidate progress, engaging stakeholders and reviewing aggregated data for continuous program improvements.

Currently, UED has 15 approved licensure programs as follows:

  • Early Childhood Education (UG),
  • Elementary Education (UG),
  • Pre-Primary Endorsement (UG),
  • English as a Second Language (UG & G, additional licensure only),
  • Secondary Education undergraduate and graduate programs in:
    • Communication Arts & Literature (UG & G),
    • Life/General Sciences (UG & G),
    • Mathematics (UG & G), and
    • Social Studies (UG & G) and
  • Special Education–ABS (UG & G).

Each licensure program approved by PELSB has a Program Leader/Coordinator as designated in the PERCA submissions with Program Development lists and CV's for program leaders. As shown in Table 27.2.1, program coordinators are qualified by advanced academic preparation and experience in that content area, and have the understanding and responsibility to ensure that all licensure standards and expectations for the program are being met.
