Standard 3 (2): The unit must implement an assessment system with a process for annually collecting and reviewing data from clinical experiences;
Data from teacher candidates’ lesson observations and overall evaluations during their Advanced Urban Teaching Practicum (EDU 450) and student teaching are collected in TaskStream. Overall evaluation scores aligned to SEPs for the advanced practicum and student teaching aggregated for data reporting and analysis as one of multiple sources of evidence about candidate performance as explained in this standard. Cooperating teachers who host our candidates complete three formal observations of lessons for the Advanced Urban Teaching Practicum (EDU 450) that informs their overall evaluations. Cooperating teachers and university supervisors each complete five formal observations of student teachers that informs their overall evaluations. These lesson observations and overall evaluations in both EDU 450 and student teaching utilize the 10 Standards of Effective Practice as criteria for evaluation.
Clinical experience candidate performance data is analyzed on an annual basis first by the Assessment Coordinator, Field Experience Director, Director of Recruitment, Retention and Induction, Dept. Chair and Dean who constitute the UED Assessment Committee. It is then shared and reviewed with the faculty through licensure program coordinators. Finally, it is shared and reviewed with school partners and stakeholders as part of the package of candidate performance data for analysis, accountability purposes, and input on ways for programs and UED to improve.
