2022 METRO STATE SCHOOL OF URBAN EDUCATION UNIT REPORT TO PELSB

(2) E12 Professional Involvement

Standard 26. The unit must require and document for each teacher educator:
(2) completion of 30 hours in a three-year period of professional involvement in an early childhood, elementary, or secondary school setting aligned to the area of instruction that must include at least one of the following: teaching, tutoring, supervising candidates in the field, completing observations, school-level consulting, or engaging with a professional learning community;

The UED requires and documents that all full-time resident and part-time adjunct community teacher education faculty complete at least 30 hours of professional involvement in B-12 settings every three years. The attached Faculty Professional Development Summary provides details about the faculty members’ active engagement in PreK through grade 12 school settings aligned to their area of instruction.

Effective fall of 2021, all full-time UED faculty were informed via faculty meetings and all-school meetings of the new unit standard expecting such involvement when UED was conducting formative assessments of the degree to which we were meeting each standard. Every semester, the UED Chair or Dean sends a reminder/prompt “to log it as they do it” to faculty about the need for them to have such experiences and document them for the UED Coordinator of Assessment to collect.
