"Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength of the nation."  John F. Kennedy

Thank you for taking time to read my ePortfolio. This ePortfolio will give you a snapshot of the work completed over the past two years and it is a representation of the different standards of the Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC). The various sections of my ePortfolio will address these different standards through individual and group projects and reflections on the progress I have made as an educator and future administrator. However, before you begin to view these sections please allow me to introduce myself and my beliefs around teaching and learning.

I believe that the main purpose of education is to equip students with the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to live successfully in the world. This is done mainly through the adherence to the curriculum which teachers implement in schools. What is known is that children and young people are always learning. As a teacher and prospective leader my philosophy on teaching and learning is that we should have a deeper and clearer understanding of our goals and expectations for our students and ourselves. We must want for our students the best education possible. This is what John Dewey had in mind when he acknowledged that teachers needed to be "students of teaching, persons who reflect on their practice and who are always prepared to ask, why this and not that."

My name is Georgieann Ramsudh and I have worked at Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School for the past six years. I have worked in numerous setting, as a Classroom Teacher, Lead Teacher and the Math and Science Team Leader. I am also involved in many committees at Fannie Lou some of which arepart of  professional development and other after school programs. As a classroom teacher I have taught a diverse group of students and I have developed different content and skills, culminating in an in-depth, portfolio -worthy project that reflected and reinforced everything learned during that unit. As a designer of curriculum I have created avenues for student voice and engagement within the confines of rigorous standards for both content knowledge and skill sets, protoyping a number of innovations that have become standard aspects of instructional practice at Fannie Lou, including protocols for web-based student inquiry and discussion based mathematics investigations.

As a leader of change in the role of lead Math/Science teacher I have led discussions and planning around the development of our schools 9th and 10th grade interdisciplinary Math/Science curriculum. I have guided a team of six teachers through a reformation of the curriculum to engage the CCLS instructional shifts and standards of practice. In addition, partnerships have been forged between Bard College, Algebra Project and Bronx River Alliance to provide our teachers with the resources necessary to help with teaching and learning. My expectations for all teachers are high and I have helped them learn to use unfamiliar resources and observing their practice.

As a leader, I am determined to help students, achieve their potentials and make sure that all stakeholders are involved in teaching and learning of every child. I believe that one's instructional strengths, organizational skills, reflectiveness and ability to develop strong relationships with  students, colleagues, community members, parents and other stakeholders are very essential to educating the whole child.
