During my biology for Education course, my instructor had the class participate in an activity called BLAST (Biology Lessons Applied by Student Teachers), rather than participating in two service learning classes. BLAST was a service learning event that was designed to provide a direct learning experience for teachers in training. The BLAST event provided an opportunity for students to practice science with real students in a classroom.
