Professional and Career Goals

At this point in my career, my main professional goal is to work as an Academically and Intellectually Gifted (AIG) specialist while using my MAEd in Instructional Technology degree to create a technology program, or set of programs, designed to allow gifted students to work through a particular curriculum at their own pace.  I would like to create a program, or set of programs, that students can easily use and teachers and administrators can understand and manipulate.

As an educator, I have learned that the only constant in education is that it is always changing.  With this, and my current professional goal in mind, my main goal is to grow within my career.  Growth is one of the most important goals in a career and being diligent and dedicated is an important aspect of that goal.  To promote growth in my career, I plan to continually improve and enhance the knowledge and resources that I am able to offer both students and other educators.  Within my career, I will strive to learn new information and gain various experiences by continually seeking to discover what is new and advanced.  I believe that my growth will lead to continued excitement in my chosen career. This excitement will be evident in the way I work and communicate with my students and fellow educators.

Another career goal I have is to enhance my leadership opportunities.  Many teachers come to me for assistance with technology, integration, and strategies.  I want to continue to be a resource for my peers so that they will always have someone willing and happy to assist.  In order to meet this goal, I must focus on personal growth.  I feel that continuing to promote growth within myself will make additional leadership opportunities possible.

A final career goal I have is to be a passionate and dedicated educator that can teach students in a way that keeps them interested, excited, and motivated.  I believe what I have learned through the MAEd in Instructional Technology has supported this goal.  As I continue to grow in my field and use what I have learned about technology through the program, I am confident that I am well on my way to providing the best and most exciting learning environment possible for each student that enters my room!
