Professional Goals

Sunflower (Lg.)

My goals as a student now are to learn and take in as much as I can about children and how they learn best. One of my goals now is to get as much experience with teaching children as I can before I have to teach on my own. My goals for my future job are to become a teacher that can build relationships with all of my students, to where they can come to me when they need anything. My goal is to become the teacher that students can remember and say I learned a lot in her class and it was fun. I want my students to succeed and for them to be able to see what they can learn and set high goals for themselves. I want all my students to be challenged to do the best that they can.

Philosophy of Teaching

ABCs (Lg.)

My beliefs as a teacher are that I think every child can learn. I believe that when teaching you should introduce new material by relating it to already known information. Then have students worked together on the material, next have the children do independent work on the material, then assess what the teacher has taught. I believe that a classroom should be inviting and comforting to all students. I believe teachers should be remodel for the children to look up. I believe that teacher should be support for all children.  I believe that teachers should do the best that they can to teach children from all different learning styles. I believe that grades should reflect what the student actually knows. Not all grades should come from test, but come from homework, in-class assignments, group work, and projects. I believe that teachers should do their best to incorporate all special needs student in the class and lesson plans. I believe that all students should be given high expectations from the teacher. I believe that teachers should love and want to teach children. Teachers should want the best for all of their students and love all of them.

Block I Internship Description

School House (Lg.)

I did my internship at North Wilkesboro Elementary school in the spring semester of 2007. I was placed in a kindergarten class. This school was very diverse having many different ethnic backgrounds represented. I had twenty-two kids in this class. During this internship I went to the school two days a week for five weeks. I taught many lessons during my internship from small groups of children to whole class lessons. I had a really good experience at the internship and learned a lot from it.

Block II Internship Decription

Schoolgirl (Lg.)

I did my Block II internship at Blue Ridge Elementary School in Ashe County. I was in a third grade classroom. I loved it at this school and in third grade. The school was a small laid back environment. Also the entire school was filled with love and care for all the students. Love and care was show at this school for the children. This internship I was at the school once a week for ten weeks then everyday for five weeks. During my internship I created and taught many lessons in all subject areas. I also worked with lower children in math to help them where they struggled. This was a wonderful experience for me. I learned so much from my cooperating teacher and the children that I will carry with me into my career.

Student Teaching

Notebook 1 (Lg.)

I did my student teaching at Jefferson Elementary School in Cleveland County. I was in a second grade classroom. This school only had kindergarten through third grade. I student taught at this school for ten weeks. I created and taught many lessons in all subjects. I taught all lessons by myself for six weeks. I really liked this school and its relaxed environment to work in. I learned so much from this experience about how to handle and displine students and how to communicate with parents. I will also be doing five weeks of my student teaching in Ireland in a school. I know this will be an experience of a lifetime.
