Rationale for Classroom Web Page

NETS-T IIA, IIC, IIE, VA, VIA, VIC

Context

In my Block I semester in CI3750 class during the Spring semester of 2007, I used TaskStream to make a webpage for my internships and possibly for my future elementary classroom. The address for this webpage is http://www.taskstream.com/ts/richard13/myclassroom/webpage.html . The password is classroom. I started my webpage by adding pages that are a homepage, events, students, parents, homework, and photo gallery. On my homepage I have a picture of myself in the classroom of my internship. I as well posted how parents can get into touch with me. I have my email, school phone and the best times that I can be reached. I also posted a link to the North Carolina curriculum. On the event page I posted the special events that were going on in the school and things that were going on in my internships classroom. The homework page I put the homework for the week for the students. On the students page I put different links that students may be interested or they would learn something from these websites. In the parents page I included links for the parents would like to visit such as the schools county webpage, school webpage, PTO web page, and sites that parents would like to go to. On the photo gallery page I posted photo graphs of the students in my classroom, me teaching in my class, and me helping students in the class. I also posted the media release forms on this page that I had the parents sign saying I take their child’s picture and post it on the web. I put clip art on all of the pages in on the classroom web page. Then after finishing putting my webpage together I published it on the web. I showed it to the children in my internship class and they just love to get on the internet and bring up the page with their pictures on it. Some of the parents told me how they liked my classroom webpage.

Impact

After learning how to do this classroom webpage for my internship classroom I will take this with me when I have my own classroom. I will have a classroom webpage for my classroom. It will be a lot like the classroom webpage I made for my block one internship classroom. I will have all of the same pages on my website. I will also have a page called books. On this page I will have list of books that children can look at and pick out books to read. Each book on the list will have descriptions about it, and I picture of what the book looks like. The classroom web page for my class will help bring the class together and will help include the parents in the class. They will be able to see what is going on in the class, see picture of their children, and have links that will interest them.

Alignment

 • I met NETS-T IIA standard by creating this web page for the children to use technology. I posted web page links to site that are learning sites for children.
 • I met NETS-T IIC standard by finding different website for children and parent to go to for their interest and learning for the children. I had to make sure this was a site that children could go to and learn from. For the parents I had to make sure it gave good advice to them. I had to make sure these sites were appropriate.
 • I met NETS-T VA standard by creating this classroom webpage. It keeps me as a teacher up to date with technology. Technology changes everyday, so I will have to keep learning about technology as it changes so that I am able to create a classroom web page for my own students in my classroom.
 • I have met NETS-T VIA standard because I had to find websites that were appropriate to show and have children use. By having this website I will be able to model for children a fun way and a way to learn by using the internet. I also sent home media release forms with the students and I did not photograph a student unless I had their parents’ permission.
 • I have met NETS-T VIC standard by have site that parents can go to on the parent page. That has links that are helpful and may be of interest to certain culture groups. I also added a link that is to the media release forms in Spanish.
 • I met NETS-T IIE by making this classroom web page and having children involved in technology, by having a page for them, their homework, and picture of them.
