Rationale for Impact on Learning Unit
Context: I taught and created a unit in my student teaching at
Impact: This unit impacted my students in a great way. My students learned a lot about matter that they didn’t know before and I could see the results on paper from the pre and post test. I had children tell me after they took the final assessment and I showed them their pre assessment that they could not believe how much they had learned. I think giving a pre and post test also shows the students how much they have learned. I think this boost, their self-esteem. This is a way to show them that they can learn and do well in school.
Alignment:
I have met Standard 17, indicator 1 by going over rules and precautions before each lesson when conducting experiments with matter during the unit. Especially the unit lesson, "gas in a bag."
I have met Standard 17, indicator 2 by going over my lesson the day before. Therefore, I knew what precautions and rules to tell the students before they did the experiments.
I have met Standard 17, indicator 3 by teaching this unit I have knowledge of the science safety laws and codes.
I have met Standard 10 by when teaching my unit to use various questioning skills and developing science processing skills (predicting, classifying, measuring, inferring, interpreting, analyzing, and synthesizing)
