Rationale for Microsoft Publisher Internship Newsletter

Nets-T Standards VC and VD

DPI Standards 16, indicator 3

Context:

Using Microsoft Publisher (a component of Microsoft Office), I made a one page newsletter to introduce myself to the students and patents in my Block I internship classroom at North Wilkesboro Elementary School. I scanned pictures of myself when I was in elementary school and current pictures also. In my newsletter I told about myself and my family. I told my favorite things to do when I was in elementary school and what I like to do now. I also put some clip art in my newsletter. I listed the dates in the newsletter to inform the students and parents of when I would be in the classroom. I handed the newsletter out to the students in my classroom, and they just loved it.

Impact:

I can use this project in my own classroom by handing out a newsletter about me and the things we will be doing in our class that year. This will hopefully get the students really excited and it will start the year off with a great start. I think that this will also be good to send to the parents it will make them feel apart of the class to. I can use a newsletter by letting parent know what is going on in our class, just to keep in touch with them, and if they would want to volunteer in the class I can give the opportunity to do so.

Alignment:

Having a newsletter saved on my computer will be an efficient method of introducing myself each school year to my students and their families. (NETS-T VC). This newsletter will let me communicate with parents using technology because I made this newsletter on the computer used a scanner and digital camera get this pictures on the computer. This is a way to make the students and parents both involved in our class (NETS-T VD, and DPI Standard 16, indicator 3).
