Drugs, Alcohol, and Tobacco Use Lesson Rationale

Context:  I developed and taught this lesson plan during the Fall 2008 semester at ASU while doing my student teaching at Westwood Elementary School.  I gave my students several different methods such as reading in groups, role playing, playing games, and question and answer session to help them learn the harmful effects of drugs and alcohol, as well as ways for them to resist them.

Impact:  I used this in my classroom to hopefully help my sixth grade students learn the harmful effects of alcohol and drugs before they are actually presented with these situations like we talked about in our role playing whenever they get into middle or high school.

Alignment:

Standard 5 Indicator 1:  I met this goal and objective by helping my students understand how to keep themselves healthy and find effective methods to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
