We are beginning to learn how to give directions. Bring in notebook, 3 pencils, and an EXPO brand low odor dry erase marker, signed Media Release Form available on this site, your signed syllabus, information form and rules by Monday, February 2nd. The sooner the better however.

We added words to directions vocabulary. We divided words into syllables. Students took a Student Information Sheet home. I began checking off materials for students who had notebook. 2 pencils to leave in class, low-odor dry erase marker, notebook and signed syllabus. Encouraged students to visit this site and print out the Media Release Form.
Added more vocabulary to directions. Used a school map to give directions in class. Divided words into syllables. Handed out a sheet of notes about word division and emphasis on the correct syllable. Handed in Student Information Sheets with a classroom job assigned.
Directions practice with Philadelphia street maps. Completed the guided notes on pronunciation and syllable emphasis. Announced quizzes are coming next week over both topics. Tuesday will be the last day to bring in materials and locate and print out the media release form to turn in. Students will receive textbooks on Monday. Assigned for Monday, a map with four streets and intersection and 6 locations. We will practice directions with these.
Day 100 Friday, February 6th Quiz over directions, 20 pts. You will be writing out the directions to places on a map. Use a beginning, middle and end. Be specific. Complete a text book chapter review 20 pts. Receive 4.1 flashcards. Fill out flash cards for homework and study syllable division for quiz tomorrow. Day 101 Monday, February 9th, 2009 Check flashcards for homework points zero to two points if done or the REPASO 1-3 handout. Make sure you have both done. Assign: Read pages 250-251. Vocabulary Quiz for this chapter will be Wednesday, February 18th. Assign for tomorrow, come to class with a list of at least seven words you don't know from pages 252-253 and guesses.
Day 102 Tuesday, February 10th, 2009 Introduction of the first reading of the dialogue pages 252-253. Assign summary sentences and a ¿Qué piensas? question. The ¿Que piensas? question is worth 10 points. You should be careful to answer legibly in a full sentence or more. The question for this chapter is ¿En tu opinión, va a comer Rosa y Sofía con Carlos? ¿Por qué?
Day 103 Wednesday, February 11th, 2009 Read pages 252-253 in the textbook and write four summary sentences. Divide the dialogue into four logical sections and write at least one sentence for each section in Spanish. Answer the the question, "En tu opinión, van a comer Rosa y Sofía con Carlos? ¿Por qué? with at least a sentence in Spanish. This is worth 10 pts. Do a good job on answering this question.
Day 104 Thursday, February 12th, 2009 Use the textbook page 256 to conjugate DECIR AND SALIR in the present tense. Study your vocabulary 4.1 flashcards for Wednesday, February 18th quiz. 25 pts. Homework: Go to www.classzone.com and enter the school code . Under My Teacher's Zone, find the 4.1 Vocabulary List and practice for 15 minutes online. Submit your answers to me. Updated on Thursday. Bring an aerial map that you make similar to the map on page 259. Use a whole sheet of notebook paper and the list of stores from the chapter.
Day 105 Friday, February 13th, 2009 Learn to make familiar commands (telling a friend or someone we know well that is our same age or younger what to do) from page 260. Do you know your vocabulary before the long weekend to make your life easier for Wednesday's quiz over 4.1?

Read pages 272-273 and figure out the English. We used a powerpoint available on this site under 4.2 attachments to get the English for 9 verbs that change from an O in the stem of the verb to UE. Write page 278 Activity 6 for tomorrow, O-UE stem changers. Learn the English for the Spanish for the 9 verbs.

Read and know what the El regatear dialogue is about on page 280. Know what ¿Cuánto cuesta? and ¿Cuánto cuestan? mean in English. Begin to write a shopping dialogue based on page 280 with your Madrid partner. Assign for homework: any work on the dialogue that needs to be completed, Activity 7 page 279 1-8 O-UE stem changers, be prepared for a quiz over o-ue stem changers.

How do you say who is going to receive something? That is the next big concept this week. These are called Indirect Object Pronouns. In class we will quiz the stem changers today 10 pts O-UE.

Day 113 February 26, 2009 In class we will practice indicating who is receiving items a lot. Start the Literacy Activities for pages 274-276. We will write summaries of what occurs in the dialogue, words we don't know and guesses and the Part A 1 and 2 activites that follow plus the ¿Qué piensas? question: ¿Por qué está sorprendida Sofía que Rosa y Carlos se conocen? Study your vocabulary and use online sites to review for next Tuesday's Vocabulary Quiz.
Day 114 February 27, 2009 In class we will work with the dialogue and literacy activities pages 274-276. In class we will work with vocabulary. Are you learning the vocabulary? Instructions will be given for how we will present the El regatear paired dialogues (Madrid partners) These should be memorized and presented in class for a grade.
March 16 Day 32/124 Complete the second page of the handout on stemchangers at home. Come to class with the page completed. Know your bargaining dialogue by heart. Block 3 is first tomorrow then 1, 2, 4. PSSA's School starts at 11 a.m.
