Throughout this unit we will try to answer this BIG question:
What is poetry?
William Wordsworth defined poetry as "the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings, recollected in tranquillity," but many other poets disagreed with him. In contrast, some poets thought that the poet should be emotionally uninvolved with the poetry--quite the opposite of Wordsworth. Who's right? What exactly is poetry? What criteria should be used to define "good" poetry? Keep these questions in mind during each step of this task, as you will be offering your opinion on these questions at the end of this unit. Ultimately, you will complete each of four tasks and turn them in at the end of the unit in an organized folder. Look to each Task page for specific instructions on how to complete each step of the assignment. Below is an overview of the unit and our daily schedule.
