Home > Task 5- Poetry Portfolio
Once you have completed each of the previous tasks, your final assignment is to compile all your work into one neat folder. Your folder should contain the following:
- a rubric on which I will grade you. I will provide this paper for you--ask me for one.
- a table of contents listing everything in the folder. You should have a section for each task.
- a section displaying the literary terms which you defined.
- a section for task #3 in which you should include your copy of the poem we explicated as a class and the three poems you have explicated along with each poem's short response.
- a section displaying the "cut" version of your poems (ie. You don't need to include the entire version of the poems, only the section you read of the poems. This should be word for word what you are going to read to the class during your presentation.) Highlight the 20 lines you memorized and label them.
- a section for the poem you created on your own. Highlight the poetical devices and label them as well.
- a final written response. This written response should consider what you learned during this unit. As always, when grading this section, I am looking for thoughful and insightful answers. Don't be vague and trite. Really think about the questions before you answer. You need to answer the following questions in your written write-up:
- What was the best part of this unit? What was the worst?
- What do you feel that you learned best?
- What would you like to change about this unit?
- After exploring poetry, what do you think poetry is? How would you define poetry? Has your perception of poetry changed as a result of this unit?
