Presentation Portfolio

Greetings!

(*Note: Please feel free to navigate through the tabbed sections on top to access Personal Information and Pedagogy Based Information.)

For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to be a positive force and make a difference.  It was not until 2007 that I found teaching and decided to specialize in education with an emphasize in slight behavior modeling, such as positive reinforcement and repetitive teaching to mold behavior.  I have decided to become a teacher to help make that ever important difference within the lives of American youth, as well as to be a positive and educated role model especially, but not limited to rebellious boys, and lastly, to share my massive knowledge.  As such, I feel I can be a successful educator if I can break through that mental blockade that stop many American youth from believing in themselves and creating a pupil who yearns to attain an education.

I started my career in education as a District Trail Therapist for Autistic Children where I learned positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, and shaping or modeling while working for CBC Education from 2005-2006.  From 2007-2010, I learned to be a more empathetic educator, listen to my students, respect my students, and care for my students as a paraeducator or Teacher’s Assistant with Los Angeles Unified School District (L.A.U.S.D.).  In 2010, I received my Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and partaken in Directed Teaching with a 5th grade gifted classroom (Pictured above) under California State University, Los Angeles.  Currently employed as a Substitute Teacher with Orange County Department of Education in a Kindergarten through 12th grade setting, I have learned to manage a classroom of 30 or more students and insure that the students understand that their education and completion of assignment is vitally important. regardless of the lesson.  Concurrently, while perfecting my classroom management skills as a Substitute Teacher, I am also working for The Academic Advantage and Ace Tutoring as an Academic Tutor.  My role as a tutor is to teach students in academic areas where the student is lacking in support and understanding.  Using the California Content Standard, I teach students from a k-12 setting on a one-on-one, at-home tutoring the academic skills these students are lacking to increase their knowledge set and skills.
