One of the first things we teach young horses is how to stand tied. We tie them when we groom them, tack them, trailer them, and much more. Improper tying can endanger either you or your horse. Horses have died from improper tying. The purpose of this lesson is to teach you how and where to properly tie a horse using a quick release knot. Upon completion of this lesson, you will be able to quickly identify unsafe tying practices. You will be able to tie your horse using two types of knots: the simple quick release slip knot, and the bank robber's knot. Please complete all required activities for full credit.
