Neither teacher has had the opportunity to formally mentor other teachers. However, Scott, as Science Chair, was responsible for contacting new science teachers and assisting as needed.
Teacher Leadership Activities
Both instructors have leadership positions in the school. Scott is currently the High School Science Department Chair. He has also held leadership positions as Cluster Representative and chair of the Climate Committee. Cindy is currently co-chair of the Climate Committee. She went to Richmond to help with curriculum development for the Department of Education for the Commonwealth of Virginia. She has also led numerous in-service programs to help other teachers. In the past few years she has created and led workshops on BlackBoard, TurningPoint and School Wires. Cindy was also part of a committee to address the educational needs of teachers who wish to have animals in their classroom. The committee created a workshop that all teachers in the county must attend if they wish to keep classroom pets. Cindy has taught that class since it was created.
Both teachers are National Board Certified.
