The Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education: Science Concentration consists of a 120 semester-hour curriculum that includes general education courses required by the University and coursework in education required for teacher certification. The program is nationally recognized by the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA), "[promoting] excellence and innovation in science teaching and learning for all".

The state of Louisiana requires the passing of a content knowledge test (e.g., Praxis II Content Test) as a condition of teacher certification. The undergraduate teacher education program at Louisiana Tech University requires the passing of this test prior to admission into the teacher candidate's final clinical practice (e.g., student teaching). The post baccalaureate programs (certfication-only and M.A.T.) require passing scores for program admission.
