| Context: This unit was designed for CI 3750, Integrating Media and Technology into Teaching for Spring 2008. It was created under the advisement of Jeff Goodman. Impact on Student Learning: This video presentation was made with the use of a video camera and computer. The process of making a video will afford me the knowledge to teach children the same process. It is a great resource that will make the children feel like they are involved and in control of their own learning. Alignment: NETS-T I B - Teachers demonstrate continual growth in technology knowledge and skills to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies. This standard was met through the video editing process that was involved in making the video. The entire process of making the movie and getting it ready to be viewed will enable me to teach the same process to my students. NETS-T II D - Teachers plan for the management of technology resources within the context of learning activities. This standard was met through the video making, editing, and posting process. Children should be educated on the different resources made available. Children should have access to video cameras and should be properly educated in the use of the cameras. Video production is a great resource in helping students learn and comprehend certain aspects of education. If there is no editing equipment available to the students, they could be taught how to edit within the video camera. They could also video tape signs held up by a student for video credits instead of using a computer. NETS-T VI B - Teachers apply technology resources to enable and empower learners with diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities. This standard was met by using different backgrounds and characteristics in the video. Different items were manipulated to make them appear different to the viewer by use of zooming, panning, tilting, and the angle of the shot of the video camera. Using video in the classroom could reach children of many diverse backgrounds, characteristics, and abilities. Videos would reach children with either drama experience or a desire to act, children who like technology, children who enjoy screen writing, etc. |
