Context:
I created this artifact under the instruction of Mr. Jeff Goodman during the Fall semester of 2007. It was created in GS 4401, Science and Science Teaching in the Elementary School.
Impact:
This artifact meets the following North Carolina Standard Course of Study Objective:
6.05- Analyze the interaction between light and matter.
This artifact also allows students to practice these science processes: observation, communication, and inferring.
Alignment:
This artifact helps me to meet the following NCDPI standards:
Standard 3, Indicator 2: This artifact showed that I have an understanding of light and its relation to matter. Through the demonstration I explain to students that light refracts and reflects through and off of matter. This helps me to meet the waves and optics section of this indicator.
Standard 15, Indicator 1: This artifact allows all students to gain interest in science. Students will not be at an advantage if they know more science than their classmates. Students who do not have chances to participate in science at home are able to watch the demonstration and know just as much as other students. It will also allow them to see that many things that can be found in their own homes are science related.
