From digging in the dirt building roads and super highways to following the passion
to teach. I have been a lifelong learner and still find myself wanting to take something apart
to see how it works. I love digging in the dirt because it has this certain feeling of
discovery. That same thrill of discovery is what I want to bring to every student in my
learning environment.
"The principle goal of education is to create men who are capable of doing new things, not simply of repeating what other generations have done...."
Jean Piaget
My name is Raphael Snell, I have spent over 30-years preparing to be a professional educator. From the farm to the Navy Seabees, to building roads around D.C.. From the roads of D.C. to the welding shops and many things in between, like machinist, mechanic, and power plant maintenance. From welding on bridges to consulting on their construction. From installing miles of underground utilities to ensuring the job was up to specifications as a consultant. Now a General Contractor and Real Estate agent to also a College graduate on a journey as a professional educator in 5-12 Social Studies. I have explored many new things and found fossils 400 million years old, the thrill of discovery is wonderful gift to find and a better one to give.
