I believe that students are active learners inquisitive by nature and are ready and willing to learn. I want to rouse students, through high expectations and meaningful interactions to become lifelong learners. I want to provide scholarship opportunities for students to gain different perspectives about their world and their understanding of it. I want them to realize through commitment, hard work, perseverance, and determination they can reach their goals; and setbacks along the way build resiliency, not failure. I want students to know what it means to act locally, but think globally because they are global citizens! I believe that if I provide meaningful engaging interactive learning opportunities my students will be motivated to learn and through the process of growth and development will surpass the systemic goals of learning how to learn, to learning how to think. Classroom Management Plan
Management Plan: A Plan to maximize learning opportunities and promote student achievement.
Class Rules: The Policy of Dealing with Others: Be Respectful, Be Honest, Be Prepared, Be Responsible, Be Committed, Be Fair, and Be Polite (class agreed amendments). Consequences will fit the offense and align with “safe schools” policies.
Class Procedures: Parent, Student, and Teacher Commitment Contracts will be signed and adhered to as equitable as possible; the ideology of participation by choice is the basis for student motivation and achievement. Communication, Cooperation, and Collaboration are the essential elements to every classroom assignment. Detailed instructions will be given, goals will be identified, outcomes will be assessed in a variety of measures (rubrics, discussions, written reports, journals, oral reports…), groups will perform self-assessments, technology will be used as a tool, due dates for assignment completion will be determined, and some projects will be ongoing and continuous.
Classroom Arrangement / Ideas: Some activities students will select their work group and other group activity placements will be assigned or determined by random draw. This design of group selection will promote collaboration, diverse learning groups, and different defined group roles. Some assignments will be individual projects. All group assignments will be assessed as individual and group components. Learning stations and classroom layout will be determined by the activity and current lesson delivery technique.
